President of HIT09
Dr Ernesto Benini obtained his PhD in Energy Technology in 1999 at the University of Padova, Italy, where he first was awarded in 1996 with an MSc (Laurea) with honour in Mechanical Engineering. Presently he is professor in Fluid Machinery and Aircraft Propulsion at the University of Padova. His scientific interests mainly include turbomachinery flows, jet engine propulsion and optimization techniques. He authored more that 250 scientific papers on international peer-reviewed journal and congresses. He serves as Associate Editor of the Journals “Designs” and “Aerospace Engineering: An International Journal (AEROIJ)” and as a reviewer of a large number of scientific journals. He is affiliated with ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics), AHS (American Helicopter Society), ETN (European Turbine Network) and AHS (The Vertical-Flight Technical Society, formerly American Helicopter Society). He is the Principle Investigator of several research projects (both privately and publicly funded by the European Union) and serves as a consultant for major companies in the field of aircraft engines.
He is presently the President of a spin-off company, HIT09 Srl (www.hit09.com), active in the field of simulations, design optimization and code development for aeronautic, aerospace, energy and marine engineering. Furthermore, he is President of the Scientific Committee of MPX-Lab, a research organization which supports creation and incubation of start-up companies (www.mpxlab.org).
Dr Benini obtained several prizes for his scientific activity, including two Best Paper Awards from the American Helicopter Society (AHS) and from the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), as well as a nomination at the prestigious New York Academy of Sciences, for the prize “Outstanding young researchers” in 2010.
